"그것이 올 때면", 우리는 에밀리 디킨슨의 시에서 말하는 '그 것'이 뭘까 생각해봤다.
그녀가 시를 쓸 때 어떤 감정으로 어떤 상황에서 썼을까.
'그 것'이란 갑자기 어느 순간에 밀려오는 '생각들'이 아닐까?. 혹은 영감?
주인공은 이미 이런 영감을 경험해 봤기에 '빛'이라는 신호가 오면 글을 쓸 준비를 한다.
그때의 생각들을 열심히 받아적으려고 하지만 결국, 종이에는 아무것도 남지 않았다.

There's a certain slant of light,

Winter Afternoons-

That oppresses, like the Heft

of Cathedral Tunes-


Heavenly hurt, it gives us-

We can find so no scar,

But internal difference,

Where the Meanings, are-


None may teach it-Any-

'Tis the seal despair-

An imperial affliction

Sent us of the Air-


When it comes, the landscape Listens-

Shadows-hold their breath-

When it goes, 'tis like the Distance

On the look of Death-
